Digging Out...

Mystery Quilts Anonymous

We have been spending the last few days, trying to dig out from a rain that caused the stream to overflow it's banks on Christmas night. We are taking out trees, plants, and fences damaged in the aftermath. This shows the height of the stream, this would be up about 3 metres. The "mud line" is where it finally stopped and started receding again.

If you can see the plank at the bottom of the picture, this is our bridge. My hero of a husband made sure it was anchored to the big boulders on this side of the river so it is still there, just parallel with the river instead of crossing it! We (and our neighbours) have lost more than our fair share of bridges. Between trees and rubbish, we spent hours cleaning up...only to have it rain again. Praying it stays just a slow easy rain with no more flooding for a long time.

Fortunately, we didn't lose power and I still could cut and sew on some future mysteries! I do have a generator and and inverter if we do lose power though and I can still sew!!! Priorities, right??

You should see videos of the 100 year flood of 2017! We were a house boat for that one! I love where we live, even when it rains to flood point. I can't wait to share it with those coming for our Quilt Retreats in 2020 and 2021... already booking for June 2021. June 2020 is near full, but there is still space for January 2021 (our summer). You will love our little piece of paradise (literally, we live on Paradise Valley Road)!!

Hoping you have a great weekend,
Deb
